YAKUN SWIFTMIND

I was born in Candlekeep 19 years ago. Son of a monk of Oghma and a priestess of Deneir, I learned to write and read at the age of 4. For my 6th birthday my father gave me an empty book and a quill. After two days the books was full and I show my parents my work, I didn't know why but they immediately take me to a stranger( for me at least) in visit to the library, Sandrew was is name and I didn't realize how important he will be. Showing my work to the stranger, they had a long discussion I didn't understand, they talked of me as a gifted looking and looking again to my book with attention and disbelief. After half an hour, the stranger came to me and began to speak to me:

-"How did you write this book?",
-"i just wrote it with the quill of my daddy, I can't write a book without quill."
The stranger chuckled trying to stay serious,
-"Do you know what this book is?" he asked
-"Well, I just take a book in the library to write it, I know it is forbidden to young boy to take books but I didn't do anything bad."
I began to think of a way to escape a punishment when the stranger start laughing at loud.
-"Sandrew, please it is serious!" my mother scowled him.
- "Yes, I know but this child is too much." he answered her then turns back to me "Anyway, the books you perfectly reproduced is on of my works, a book blessed by Lord Oghma, a book no one even me managed to duplicate, no spells and no scribe managed to do it in 20 years and you a young 6 years old boy did it in only two days. You can't understand yet but what you did shows how you are gifted with such power. You would surely forget that soon due to your young mind but I had to tell you and I know one day you will understand."

He then turned to my parents waiting for something. My mothers start to cry softly but I didn't understand anything, the stranger talked a little to much for me and why my mother was crying? My father noded at him and he turned back to me again.

"Now you have a choice to make, choose wisely and with all your heart. A new temple of Oghma is built in the City of Waterdeep, I will there instruct scribes, poets and singers, aiding the poor and helping the riches. And our most important task will be to write the official laws an texts of the Masked Lords, for this task I want you to help me. But your parents will not be able to come with you. You must choose your way young boy, you are wise and I know you will choose right."

He then smiled at me and head to the exit. He stooped a few paces before reaching the door and says "I will in 4 days, wait for me on the front stairs if you choose to come." then he left.

I could not say a word, it was to much for my young spirit, he asked me of leaving my parents but he give me the chance to see the City of Splendors, my very dream. My father took me by surprised and sat me on his shoulder. Saying we must talk. We then came back to our room, my mother still with a tear in her eyes.

4 days had passed when Sandrew left the library. Not seeing me on the stairs he head directly to the city gate, as soon as he was out he started to chant a spell of transportation. But he never finished it, a stone caught him on the back. -"Oh don't forget me" I said to him.
He turned about stare at me with surprise.
-"I tell you to wait for me on the stairs, what do you do here?"
-"I waited for you, on the stairs my mother would see me and she will cry again, I don't want her to cry."
-"You escape then. Well, I can't enter the city again as I have no books on me but I known that I will tell them as soon as we will arrive in Waterdeep." -"Great, could we go now?"
Sandrew began his chant again, soon interrupted again by a tap on his hands. I held a book in front of him.
-"A gift, I did it for you."
He took a look at the book, grumbling about me. Then he eyed me in disbelief. -"Thanks young boy, it is a magnificent work."
He then began his pray again and managed to finish it with a smile as he looked upon. The books was his most famous works, his story.

We arrived in Waterdeep a few minutes after. We were in a recall room in this temple of Oghma, he introduce me to the priests around as a new scribe. All were very surprised, I was the first, of the title for my young age.I didn't had a room first, I lived with Sandrew. He taught me of the Gods of Knowledge and Invention: Oghma, Deneir, Milil and Gond. I learned how to use all sort of writing devices. I received letter from my parents some times. But I missed them a lot.

I began my real work 2 years after my arrival, The Font of Knowledge was finished and I had my own room, some days when I woke up I found a sealed wooden box on my desk, I never knew how it arrived on my desk but I knew from who it was. the only way to open the boxes was to put my fingers on the seal then I duplicate the books, letters and anything they ask me too. When I had finish I just had to put all the things in the box and seal it again for him to disappear I don't know where. Loremaster Most High Sandrew continued to raise me as his son, I learned all I can about writing and reading, I teach it to any people who asked. Getting scowled sometimes because I had duties to attend to. I remember when I didn't come back to my room for 2 days because i was busy teaching writing and reading to some beggars. I found myself with more works than I never had and Loremaster Most High Sandrew was really mad at me after that.

After 10 years, for my 18th birthday he asked me to come with him in his office. There stand two others priests and .. my parents. I hugged my mother and father almost make them lost their breath when my father told me to listen to Sandrew. It was the happiest day I lived in all my short life.

-"Today is special, it is your 18th birthday and I don't want you anymore as scribe here." Sandrew said smiling like it was nothing
-"But I.." I was then interrupted slapped on the back by my father
-"I told you to listen." he scowled me.
Sandrew continued "From today you are a Seeker of the Lord of Knowledge, go see the world and found enough knowledge for the Binder to accept you in his rank. Learn and teach all you can and all you know. I made your parents come today to help you prepare in your hardest work. I give you 1 days to be ready, tomorrow you will go to the basement to receive the basic training then you will go see the world and spread your knowledge Seeker Yakun Swiftmind." I was surprised because he never talked to me so formally before, then he smiled at me and asked us to leave.

We made it to my room, I was eager to tell my parents of my life here and of all the works I did. We spend the day, talking and getting me ready. I did my last work for the Lords and add a little note in the box to thank them for the thrust they had in me. The next day my parents left and I began my training in the basement, the day after I left the Font of Knowledge to begin my learning. I then meet Artan Softspeak, a mage in the service of Oghma. He gave me money and adventuring clothes. I "visit" the sewer of the city, earning a few wererats head. I also visited the School of Wonder with Artan. I explore all the temple of the city, I thought to write and read to a few beggar. I helped a few people with what I know about the gods of the realms. Then the worse happened, I was exploring the sewer and found an elf attacked by some wererats, we killed the wererats but he was mortally wounded, I tried to save him using the prayer I learned from the priest of the Font but no one worked and he died in front of me, I don't even know his name but I let him die, unable to do anything, unable to utter the simplest prayer. I thought my Lord abandoned me and was wandering around Waterdeep with no goals when I saw two those people in the Market Square, a Lady was ill, contaminate by a magical disease. She infected some peoples by touch then we went to infirmary of the Halls of Justice to conceal the disease. There Tayza, a sorceress of Oghma was infected too and was badly injured by an imp. We needed to gather some things in order to cure the disease, I was asked to stay here with the infected to help them with my few spells. I swear to not let any of them die but all i remember is that I was curing them the best I could and I was myself infected. The next thing I could remember was my wake in an empty Market Square, completely naked. The others came back at this moment, I only manage to hide behind the fountain. They thought I was dead and I didn't really remember anything. I wore some clothes and they tell me what happened, the priest of Tyr died from the disease. I let another died again, I swore to not let them and I failed. Tayza was healed and she has now a hole in her beautiful cheek, she ask me to go with her praying our Lord. I ask him to guide me, tell me what my writing abilities could do to help me against those deaths. Tayza tried to make me feel better, tell me not to loose my faith. Then I decided to listen to her, I began to write a scroll to help cure this disease if it happen again. I was going to the Font of Knowledge to ask a friend if he could lend me an empty scroll then I heard a voice, a whispering coming from the page of a book, Oghma's voice. He asked me to write this book as my writing abilities if something needed in this world, he asked me to never loose my faith again, to lived for him. And I will, with all my heart I will.

Yakun Swiftmind.

Yakun is now deceased, or at least assumed to be so. Rumours from the north say that he passed on after a battle with a band of orcs.
